I think the problem was that the network, specifically Fox, tried to have the series air all season instead of just a 13 episode run like in the first and third seasons. The show itself was really good, it’s just a shame that it didn’t have as long of a run as it should have. Honestly, the show was really funny, the animation was really good, the comedy was really well done, the characters were very likeable, and the stories were nicely handled and well-written. So, this isn’t like a John Kricfalusi situation where he takes way too long to produce animation but still, like with most stop motion animation, it takes a lot of time and a lot of money to produce and like with stop motion films, as we’ve talked about in the past, they’re not always guaranteed to make a profit or be a success unless you have people willing to work their asses off to get it done. The first season aired as a normal run but then, literally, the second season started with an episode airing in December 1999 and then nothing until the series was burned off over the summer of 2000, then it switched over to the WB and it got even stranger, there was one episode that aired in October 2000, then a Christmas one that aired in December, four episodes in February 2001, 1 in April, 3 in May, and the last 3 have never aired on TV.īut then again, you have to keep in mind that the series was done in stop motion, which takes a long time to produce and can cost a ton of money to make more than most animated series do.
